UPCOMING SHOW!
Andersen Designs Holiday Studio Show with special guests:
Nov. 6th, 2010, 9-3, I have had a passion for art all of my life. I have always seen the wonder in simple things and have been inspired by nature to create my interpretation of it. Each piece of my art is hand crafted, one element at a time. It is very important to me that my designs be unique expressions of the world around me, from the simple to the sublime. I incorporate glass, silver, copper, semi-precious stones and found objects to create original, one of a kind, wearable art. By working with natural materials, I am able to express myself through color, form and texture. I make the glass beads in my pieces by melting rods of glass over an oxygen-propane torch and shaping them into little works of art. The beads are then heat soaked in an annealing kiln for 8-12 hours to slowly cool them to room temperature. This process creates a very stable, strong bead. Take a moment to browse through the photo gallery. The pieces that you'll see are a representation of the type of work that I do. Because each of the components is either organic or handmade, it is nearly impossible to duplicate them exactly. There will always be slight variations, but that's what makes it art! If you see something you're interested in, contact me. If that item has been sold, we'll use the photo as a launching point for your unique creation.
